黃侃，字季剛，湖北蔪春人。留學日本，在東京師事章太炎，為章門下大弟子。歷任北京大學、中央大學等教授，其國學造詣深湛，尤擅語言文字學，名重士林，有「國學大師」之譽。惜治學嚴謹，多述而不作，未及知命之齡遽逝，傳世著作極稀。
