明如點漆,黑擬松煤者,曰油紅;澤若佛頭,色同古碧者,曰綠華,均出洛邑。范石湖題徐熙〈風牡丹〉詩云:天半罡風如箭激,綠綃飄蕩紫綃寒。今年東風疾,花半毀,因製此圖。宋南渡後,禁苑植牡丹,扁曰「伊洛傳芳」,並記於此。
戊寅浴佛日,用乾隆庫楮御墨。非闇。
鈐印:「戊寅」、「于照之印」、「一字非闇」、「非闇五十歲作」。

註:本幅取宋人范石湖詩意,寫牡丹中油紅、綠華兩品種風中搖曳之姿。畫中見枝舞翻袖,葉妝展眉,花底石竹亦呈擺蘯,蛺蝶一雙逆風而飛,夾翅不得舒展,襯出入春時仍帶料峭寒意,見「箭激罡風」之狀。對照本幅寫於五月初,正京城易起大風之季,想必確是東風尚疾,毀花無數,引得畫家心生惜憐而迻錄其貌於畫中。
于氏作畫選用材料、顏料極盡講究,畫墨紫牡丹以自藏舊洋紅,配以御墨,得沉著絲絨般色澤;綠華一朵,瓣有斑駁,可見石青之下以石綠作底,相互襯托,益顯鮮明,每種顏色亦是由淺而深,方得潔淨而厚重。本幅帶寫生之意,但諸多細節仍保留兩宋緙絲裝飾之美。于氏極為推崇朱克柔、沈子蕃緙絲,以其優美婉麗,存唐人藝術渾厚而不失自然之趣。油紅一朵,雌蕊畫以石綠,雄蕊極規則地環列四周,取藤黃、石青、硃砂、胭脂,細細上色,復施金勒雌蕊,如此畫來無造作之弊,衹覺古雅貼切;綠華一蕊,同出此法,稍作變化矣。四十年代以後,畫家筆下牡丹之花蕊,則寫生多於古意了。
