上款：「少谿」即丁如玉（1746-1830），江蘇淮安人。鄉試中中舉為賢書令，出任江西玉山縣知州，復因績優獲升遷廣州府同知，歷任廣東肇慶、南雄、韶州、惠州等府司馬。

註：伊秉綬於嘉慶四年（1799）主政惠州，因事被黜，由丁如玉代理其位，因處理善後得宜，伊秉綬得以解困，感其恩而締結深交。汀州有自用硯，自刻銘文於硯右，曰「丁少溪守端州贈此石，後救吾大難，毋忘石交」，即指上述之事。丁父息陸逝世，墓志銘即為伊氏所撰。及丁如玉殁後，其墓志銘則出自伊墨卿子念曾手筆，兩代世誼，於此見矣！

本幅四屏乃伊汀州自書詩草贈丁如玉，稱曰「司馬」，即「同知」官名別稱。墨卿自用硯得丁氏贈於嘉慶壬戌年（1802），本幅或寫於相約時期。
