of pear-shaped form, carved in relied with a gilt and lacquered dragon-head medallion, flanked by ring handles issuing from masks, the reverse with a ten-character inscription

Condition

The snuff bottle is in overall good condition. There are barely visible flakes to the mock ring handles. There are also light surface scratches and rubbing to the gilding.

The inscription reads duan xi yu niang cai wen run bi mei yu, yu zhi, which translates as 'The River Duan produces good material, as good as touching jade, by imperial command'
