Description

  • Crystal
flanked on each side by a simulated three-ring chain, intricately painted in vivid colours, one side with a frolicking Pekinese dog, the other with two doves perched on rockwork

Provenance

Collection of John Fell Ruckman (1901-1965), Pennsylvania.
Collection of Charles V. Swain, thence by descent.

Condition

The bottle is in overall good condition. There are minor nicks to the edges, including the rim and the handles, as well as minor polished down areas to the handles and foot, possibly to conceal earlier nicks. There are expected scratches and abrasions from wear and some fading to the painting. The catalogue illustration is brighter than the actual colour of the bottle.
