Condition

The snuff bottle is in overall good condition. There are barely significant nibbles and minor nicks to the surface as well as natural icy inclusions to the stone. The catalogue illustration is slightly brighter than the actual colour of the stone.

Catalogue Note

A tourmaline snuff bottle of similar quality from the Mary and George Bloch collection, carved with a ‘squirrel and grapes’ design, was sold at Bonhams Hong Kong, 25th May 2011, lot 58.
