  • soapstone
of rectangular section, surmounted by a tianlu seated on its haunches turning its head to the right, its bifurcated horn extending over the spine and its tail wrapped in between and flicked over the haunches, the seal face carved with a six-character inscription reading feng qin wang fu shu hua yin ('Seal for Calligraphy and Painting in the Hall of Prince Feng'), the stone of a warm beige colour mottled with russet inclusions

Condition

There are a few nicks and bruises along the edges and to the extremities as can be expected, including the edges of the seal and seal face as well as the tianlu's horn and ears, some light surface scratches on the sides, but overall the seal remains in good condition. The catalogue illustration is a tinge more red than the actual colour of the stone.
