carved standing dressed in a hooded robe picked out with incised stars on her veil, holding in her hand a rosary, her face set in meditative expression, the smoothly polished stone of pale celadon colour with occasional russet veins

Provenance

Collection of J.P. Reeves (1901-1978), OBE, British Consul in Macao, thence by descent in the family.

Condition

There are a few minute nicks to the front edge of the robe and the bottom hem, some surface pitting in areas, including to the top of the hood and on the shoulder, all consistent with age. The actual colour is somewhat warmer and deeper, less yellow when compared to the catalogue illustration.
