carved in the form of a recumbent horse turning its head to the left with a raised and gently curving spine, finely incised with a neatly combed forelock and tail tucked under its hindleg and freely curving over the haunch, the smooth stone with a few patches of russet and mottled grey
Condition
The horse in overall good condition with minute nicks to the extremities as can be expected, including the horse's ears. There is also a small polished area to its right leg to possibly conceal an earlier chip associated with a natural vein. The catalogue illustration a tinge more grey than the actual colour of the stone.
