Description

of circular section with straight sides and a domed cover, the box comprising two separate tiers and a cover of corresponding form, the exterior applied overall with a ruby-red enamel of rich crushed-raspberry colour, the interior of the cover and the base of the trays enamelled turquoise, the base inscribed in iron-red with six-character apocryphal seal mark within a white panel, wood stand
Condition
There is a tiny nick to the interior rim of the central tier and a few crackles to the blueish-white glaze on the interior of the tier. There light scratches to the surface glaze of the cover. There are a few pinholes to the turquoise glaze on the base. Otherwise the box is in overall very good condition. The actual colour is somewhat deeper and darker, slightly more purplish and less raspberry-red compared to the catalogue illustration.
Please note that the mark on this box is apocryphal. It should be dated Qing dynasty only and not mark and period of Qianlong as stated in the catalogue.
