Description

  • porcelain
finely potted with gently everted sides rising from a tapered foot, incised on the interior with two bats encircled by waves within a central medallion, the exterior further incised with nine bats hovering above tempestuous waves battering three rocky outcrops, applied overall with a smooth sea-green glaze thinning to white at the rim, the base left white and inscribed with a six-character reign mark within a double-circle

Condition

The bowl is in good overall condition. There is an original horizontal body line (approx. 8 cm) under the glaze on one side of the bowl, two specks and a minute iron spot to the rim. The actual bowl is of a somewhat warmer celadon colour compared to the catalogue illustration.
