Description

  • incorporating nasta'liq inscriptions of poetic couplets, and a date within the verse, across the centre width
  • wool pile
  • approximately 592 by 263cm; 19ft. 5in., 8ft. 8in.
with an indigo field and overall design of harshang palmettes and rosettes, within a madder/coral border with arabesques and palmettes, and yellow inner and outer guards

Condition

Overall measurements: 260cm across the top, 263cm across the bottom, 592cm along left side, 579cm along right side. Pile 3mm and down to foundation in areas, especially within the main field. Tinting, especially to indigo, holes, very worn in areas. Partially lined. End guards missing, losses. Overlocked and stabilised by lining in sections. Losses to side cords. Distressed condition.
