- polychromed wood, with glass eyes, and textiles
- Italian, Naples, second half 18th century
together with five smaller polychromed wood and textile figures from a crĂȘche, German, 20th century
Condition
Angels:
Overall the condition of the angels is good, with some wear and minor dirt consistent with age. The mantle of the angel with the red trousers is ripped at the back. There is further wear, including fraying, to the textile in several areas. There is some dirt to the flesh tones of the polychromy and to the shoes. The necklace with beads is probably later. The other angel's lyre is in two parts and partially loose. His wings are carved separately and slide into the figure with metal pins. The crown is loose. There is some flaking to the polychromy, in particular to the legs. There is some wear and tear to the angel's dress.
The figures are accompanied by a Bernheimer Munchen label inscribed: #2055256 2 Krippenfiguren
Crib figures:
Overall the condition of the figures is good, with some dirt and wear. The lid of one of the figure's caskets is loose and slightly warped. Some of the arms and hands are lost.
