Description

  • walnut and pine
  • 78cm. high, 171cm. wide, 61cm. deep; 2ft. 6 ¾in., 5ft. 7 ½in., 2ft.
with a panelled front with scrolling foliage, the stiles with boldly scrolled acanthus with an iron handle on each side, on later detachable addorsed scrolled acanthus feet

Condition

In overall good conserved condition. Old marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age and normal usage. The top has watermarks and pitting and a horizontal construction crack which would benefit from being filled. There is also another crack opening up in the top. The top is more faded than the rest and the right hand panel is a different colour to the one on the left and would benefit from a repolish according to taste. Evidence of old woodworm which appears no longer active. There is a rectangular patch to the top approx.15cm x 1cm. together with another 7cm x 2cm. and there is a large section along the rear edge which has been damaged by woodworm. Evidence or previous hinges internally. and lock plate and part of the lockplate on the upper section is missing. Some of the mouldings on the side panels are later replacements.
