  • wood and mother of pearl
  • 26cm., 10 1/4 in.
the cover finely inlaid in mother-of-pearl with a medallion enclosing a seated lady with child and attendant in a garden, encircled with floral sprays and grapevine at the rim, the sides with four cusped oval panels enclosing landscape scenes and divided by Precious Objects, the sides of the box with flower sprays divided by floral strapwork

Condition

There is crack to the base and cover extending the full length of the box, and a section of loss to the rim of the base approx. 4cm. long. There is loss to the mother-of-pearl inlay, particularly to the cover, and some are possibly replaced. The colour of the wood on the cover is lighter than the box.
