Description

  • silver, gilt-brass and agate, wood box
the agate of deep cylindrical form set on a splayed foot and mounted with silver and gilt wreaths held up by stylised flowerheads, with scalloped rim, the lid applied with silver floral wreaths and blossom finial, in velvet-lined bespoke leather box 

Condition

The agate bowl with two hairline cracks near edge, the mounts with some rubbing and resulting losses of gilding, few very minor dents, one small crack in vertical rim of mount, the box most probably of a nineteenth century date, some ware around hinges and corners, as viewed.
