Catalogue Note
This illustration would have been part of a historical manuscript incorporating the history of Islam and depicts the moment The Prophet rode seven times round the Ka'ba on a camel after an attack had been made on Mecca. A related album page formerly in the Kevorkian collection and sold through these rooms 1 December 1969, lot 119, depicts the same scene.
