Catalogue Note
Colonel von Leipzig served as the German military attaché to Constantinople for many years following his retirement from the army. He encountered an unfortunate and mysterious death in 1915 when reports suggest that while awaiting a train to Constantinople he was rearranging his suitcase when "his revolver, which was lying on the case, went off, and he was shot through the head". The Times, July 8th, 1915.
