Condition
Good condition overall. Minor marks and small chips consistent with age and use. One element of the seat is missing to the proper right hand side.

"A Bawömataluo et dans certains autres villages du sud de Nias, l'autel principal consistait en une chaise émergeant en très haut relief des panneaux alignés sur le mur (panneaux-mères, ina laso). Monoxyle et de composition extrêmement complexe, cet autel est nommé le siège dédié au père (dara daro nadra ama) - autre terme désignant chez les Nias, les ancêtres" (Feldman, The Eloquent Dead: Ancestral Sculpture of Indonesia and Southeast Asia, 1985, p. 66).
