Comparé à l'abondant corpus de "poupées" de fertilité akwaba dont les volumes sont hautement stylisés, les statuettes Akan au corps naturaliste demeurent rares, et plus exceptionnelles encore, comme ici, les figures d'autel. A la force de l'évocation répond la beauté abstraite du large visage - selon l'esthétique Akan - dont les traits disparaissent sous l'épaisse patine croûteuse témoignant des offrandes destinées à en accentuer le pouvoir médiumnique et protecteur.
