This work appears to be in generally good overall condition. There are some traces of soiling, mostly concentrated along the left edge, by the upper right corner and towards the center of the right edge. There are some stable and small craquelures traces by the thickest brushstrokes. The upper right corner has been reinforced. No traces of retouching appear to be visible under UV light.

Quel che forse più interessa e intriga del lavoro di Festa, è il rapporto di estraneamento contemplativo che ha con le cose. Il mondo per Festa è uno scenario, composto non da figure reali ma da apparizioni. Più che oggettualizzare le immagini egli ne coglie l’aspetto ”spettrale e metafisico” (Lorenza Trucchi, Il Colore dell’Ossessione , Il Giornale, 21-3-1988)

 

Il 1965, data di esecuzione dell’opera in oggetto è un anno speciale per Festa, anno in cui aveva trascorso diversi mesi a New York. La sua opera, anche se solo per un periodo, abbandona le porte, le finestre, le persiane, gli armadi , gli specchi, gli obelischi e i pianoforti che avevano caratterizzato la sua produzione artistica durante la prima metà degli anni 60.  In questa sua nuova fase il lavoro di Festa sembra più solare, i ritratti di donne in bikini e ballerine ritratte solo in questa breve produzione artistica di Tano, lo testimoniano, e non a caso un gallerista importante,  e soprattutto a lui caro- non dimentichiamo la   famosa lettera del 1966 a lui indirizzata- come Schwarz include Al livello del mare numero 2 nella sua personale del 1966 a Milano.
