Condition
The canvas is not lined. Are only visible under UV light: one spot (approx..1x1 cm) located below the cloud, a few other minor scattered spots and few dots of retouching located in the upper part of the right edge. Probably a studio's dirt, a minor spot of dirt located in the upper part of the left edge is only visible under close inspection. This work is in good condition.

signed 'O.DOMINGUEZ' and dated '3-4-40' (lower right); oil on canvas. Painted in 1940.
"Entré dans la peinture surréaliste à une époque où celle-ci se trouvait déjà parvenue à un très haut degré d’expérience et de réussite, Domínguez […] a toujours considéré le problème sous un jour à part et cherché, dès le début, une solution qui lui fut personnelle. Et ses recherches ont porté d’une part sur des trouvailles techniques et d’autre part sur des objets imaginaires dont certains sont assez stupéfiants."
