The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate.
Some very faint wear marks located along the edges of the black area are visible under close inspection.

Catalogue Note
Le spectacle et la danse ont toujours attiré Alexandre Calder. La représentation Métaboles en octobre 1969 au Théâtre de l’Odéon à Paris scelle son amitié avec Joseph Lazzini, ce chorégraphe célébrant la danse d’avant-garde. Vers 1965 Lazzini avait demandé à Calder de réaliser les décors et les costumes d’un ballet et ce Stabile avait été réalisé en référence à cette représentation.
Métaboles a été remonté à Nancy en hommage à l’artiste qui venait de décéder. Un peu auparavant, le documentaire télévisé « Variations dans l’espace » consacré à Calder, montrait l’artiste dans sa maison à Saché, en Touraine, et des extraits de Métaboles ayant été adaptés pour l’occasion.
