born to Merit-Neith, holding the hoe, pick, and seed-sack, and wearing a braided beard and striated tripartite wig, his face with finely modeled features, the outlined lips indented at the corners, the eight lines of inscription including a passage from Chapter 6 of the Book of the Dead.

Brodbeck, Aegyptische Totenfiguren aus oeffentlichen und privaten Sammlungen der Schweiz, Freiburg, Switzerland, 1990, p.240-241, no. 169 (Sotheby’s, New York, November 24th-25th, 1987, no. 51) for a very similar ushabti of Hor-maa-Kheru. The authors note that another ushabti of his was found in an Etruscan tomb at Ceverteri. One of the first ushabtis of Hor-maa-Kheru to become known to scholars was put on display in Berlin in 1974; see J.-F. and L. Aubert, Statuettes Aegyptiennes, Chaouabtis, Ouchebtis, Paris, 1974, p. 234.
