Catalogue Note
Gorham Martelé archives indicate that the coffee pot took 86 hours to make and 74 hours to chase, and the kettle took 135 hours to make and 100 hours to chase. The tea set was probably made by either William L. Hughes Jr. or E. Hughes, and John M. Sorum chased the tray. The net cost to make all seven pieces was $1918 (Pristo: 2002, p. 378).
