Condition

American Country Life: October afternoon (Gale 135): The sheet is laid down and unevenly trimmed on the left and right margins. The sheet is light- and mat-stained and the colors are slightly attenuated. Surface soiling and foxing in the bottom margin. The top sheet edge with three rectangular areas of repaired paper loss and one extant area of paper loss. The verso is foxed. Life in the Country: "The Morning Ride" (Gale 3779): The right sheet edge is unevenly trimmed. The sheet is light- and mat-stained and foxed. There is a one-inch vertical tear in the bottom sheet edge at center. There are three damp-stains in the bottom margin. The verso is foxed with surface soiling. Partridge Shooting (Gale 5115): The four sheet edges are unevenly trimmed. The sheet is light- and mat-stained with a 6 by 2 inch area of damp-stain in the top sheet edge at center. The top and bottom sheet edges with an occasional nick out of the paper. The bottom right corner with a 7 inch long crease. The verso, with seven fox marks showing through as areas of bleaching. A Snowy Morning (Gale 5979) The right and bottom sheet edges are unevenly trimmed. The sheet is unevenly discolored due to light-stain, back-board stain and surface soiling. There is a 3/8 by 3/4 of an inch area of paper loss in the top left corner of the sheet. The verso, is foxed with two hinge remnants in the top corners. Woodcock Shooting (Gale 7320): The sheet is light-stained and the colors are slightly attenuated. The bottom sheet edge and left sheet edges are both damp-stained. There is also surface soiling on both the recto and verso. The verso, with backboard-stain and an occasional fox mark.
