The canvas is lined. Generally in good condition, with scattered spots of craquelure and crazing throughout, especially the dark pigments. Under ultraviolet light: scattered inpainting around edges to address frame abrasion, especially at upper left; an area of inpainting in sky at upper center; another large area of inpainting in river bank between two trees at right, evident with the unaided eye.
