Catalogue Note
A sculpture of a male figure that bears the characteristics of having been carved by Djulabinyanna but painted by another artist. The posture of the figure with the arms dangling from hunched shoulders, the tapered hips and the window formed by the legs joining the hips to the base are typical of Djulabinyanna’s figure sculptures. However, the predominance of dotted decoration and the herringbone design on the back suggest this work was painted by another, unidentified artist.
