Description

- Carpet
- with artist's and producer's woven monograms OLH ID
- handwoven wool
Condition
Overall in very good original condition. When viewed first-hand, the carpet presents with greater nuance to the coloration throughout. The color in the catalogue illustration is accurate in hue. The carpet with some minor surface dirt consistent with use. The border of the carpet with minor losses and fraying to the top left border adjacent to the corner, measuring approximately 13 inches in length. A second smaller area of edge loss to the lower right-hand corner extending 4 inches. None of these losses extend to the decorative portions of the carpet. Please contact the 20th century Design department for additional photographs. An extremely early and rare carpet by Dessau to appear on the auction market. The flatwoven carpet presents with a beautiful geometric form heightened by a rich palette of corrals, purples, fushia and brilliant pink offset by the gray and natural wool.
