Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wooden surfaces of the sofa with deeply saturated coloration and rich figuring throughout. The wooden frame appears to have a sensitively applied later finish. With a few very minor surface scratches, edge abrasions and discoloration to the wooden frame consistent with gentle use. The back of the sofa continues the richly figured wooden surface, and the work is not intended for use against the wall. The upholstered surfaces are later and so almost no evidence of use. A wonderful deeply sculptural sofa showing the architectonic references that inform Hvass’ work. A rare work by Hvass to appear on the auction market. ---
