Catalogue Note
Danish architect Kaj Gottlob showed interest in classical architecture and was influenced by English Arts and Crafts before turning to the sober style of Nordic Neoclassicism. His architectural creations and furniture designs are outstanding examples of 1930s modernism in Denmark. In 1925, he designed furniture for the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris. Produced by Cabinetmaker A. J. Iversen, the present lot is a unique piece, part of Gottlob's dining room interior, which won a Grand Prix.
