Description

- Pair of Chairs Designed for A Private Residence, Chandigarh, India
- teak and rope
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The pieces have been sensitively refinished in a manner that is consistent with the original design. The wood presents with wonderful figuring and very subtle colour variations ranging from light to richer browns. The front stretcher of one of the chairs presents with a minor stable age crack to the wood measuring approximately 1 ½ in. in length. Minor and very sensitively undertaken restorations concentrated at the joints of the structure. The rope has been replaced in India in a manner that is consistent with the original design and is in excellent condition. A dynamic design with very good provenance. The rope work in particular adds wonderful to already deeply sculptural chair form.
