Description

  • Maison Jansen
  • Six Benches
  • painted wood and leather
comprising one Louis XVI bench, circa 1775, and five Louis XVI style benches

Condition

Overall in very good condition. Please note that this offering a wonderful assemblage of works dating from Louis XVI to those executed in the 1970s in the style of Louis XVI. The condition is consistent across the assembled pieces. The painted wooden surfaces with surface dirt, minor surface scratches, minor edge abrasions and a few minor losses to the elements in relief. The benches have been reupholstered in an elegant green leather. The overall surfaces of the leather with minor surface scratches, traces of dirt, crazing and wear throughout. One of the benches with fading to the color and concentrated wear to the edges, consistent with age and gentle use. The leather on the longest bench with more concentrated stains to the seat. A very stylish group when viewed in person that exemplifies Maison Jansen’s unique aesthetic intended to blend high French furniture with contemporary works from the 1970s. ---
