Literature
Joan Kahr, Edgar Brandt: Art Deco Ironwork, Atglen, PA, 2010, p. 134 (for a larger version of the model)
Condition
Overall in good condition. The metal surfaces with minor surface scratches, light surface dirt to the recessed portions of the design, and light rubbing concentrated along the bottom edge of the base and the high points of the body of the snake consistent with age and gentle handling. The lamp has possibly been re-gilded in the 1990s. The glass shade presents with a highly detailed acid-etched surface and with a few minor surface scratches and surface dirt. The leather cushions between the shade and base shows traces of age and use. The table lamp is electrically stable and is currently fitted with a US plug. A very nice small scale example of the successful collaboration between Edgar Brandt and Daum.
