Description
- ADOLF LOOS
- "Elefantenrüssel" Table
- mahogany, brass and glazed earthenware
tiles executed by Alexandre Bigot, Paris
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The wooden surfaces appear to have a sensitively applied later finish. The top and lower portion of the legs presents with a few minor surface scratches, abrasions, and dents consistent with gentle use. The brass surfaces with a few minor surface scratches, light discolorations and minor oxidation consistent with the aging process of the material. The brass surfaces appear to have been sensitively cleaned and the original screws to the outer edge of the top with evidence of polish residue. The inset ceramic tiles of the top with some minor surface imperfections consistent with the material. One tile with a hairline crack extended the length of the tile and a minor glaze loss to the edge measuring 1/8 inch. A great example of an iconic form by the artist.
