  • from an edition of 3

Provenance

Galerie Benamou, Paris

Condition

Overall in very good condition. The work presents with a great scale and extraordinary variety of vivid colors when viewed in person. It is composed by an assemblage of scrap pieces of sari brought to the artistÂ’s by women from his village. With scattered surface dirt consistent with age and gentle handling. One of the fabric piece of the seat is detached and could easily be reattached. The work has been sensitively maintained. The overall structure is very light and the piece can be dismantled in two parts, the backrest and the lower portion for shipping purposes. An extraordinary work of art, the choice of the medium is intricately linked with the social and political references contained in this piece. ---
