Condition
Overall in very good condition. The patinated bronze frames with minor surface irregularities inherent in the production which add depth to the overall design. The chairs show rich patination throughout. The patination of this chair presents significantly more green with a verdigris hue in comparison to the three other chairs in offer in this auction. The areas of oxidation adjacent to the holes in the frame near the armrest appear more evident because of the variant patination hue. The bronze surfaces with minor rubbing to the patina, surface discolorations and a few minor abrasions consistent with age and gentle use. There are a few concentrated areas of oxidation to the frame, concentrated to the two holes through the frame adjacent to each arms. The top surfaces of the arms with rubbing to the patina and presently show with gilt and russet brown patina inherent in the design. With rubbing and minor losses to the patina at high points of the back rest and the front edge of the chair seat. Surface dirt scattered throughout to the recessed portions of the design. The cane seats are new and are in excellent condition. Some of the fastening hardware to the underseat has been replaced. A deeply sculptural design, incorporating Johnson signature gazelle motif, the lounge chair form is incredibly rare and demonstrates the height of Johnsons sculptural chair design.
