Condition

This work is in fair condition. Some craquelures across the surface of the work with some more defined areas on the upper left and central section. The varnish is only apparent around the edges and few scattered areas across the lower section of the painting. Some minor paint loss can be noticed to the upper left and right edges of the painting. The canvas needs to be restreched onto a new stretcher as the current one is too large. A condition report and restoration report is available upon request. No apparent sign of restoration under ultraviolet light. The colours in the catalogue illustration are failry accurate, with the reds tending more towards light orange.

Catalogue Note

'When we stand before her work - an exceptional quality of silence unveils. We know that silence is the masterpiece of musicians, whose mission is to transform it. Less is known that silence is the very matter of painting, this one at least.'

Jean-Claude Carrière, 2009
