Condition

Original canvas. There is a thin horizontal superficial abrasion just above the figure's left hand (visible in the catalogue illustration, and possibly only in the varnish layers). Ultra-violet light reveals notably a spot of retouching to her hip, a band along the lower extreme edge underneath the signature and running up vertically next to the L, a line to a circa 7cm vertical repaired tear in the lower left quarter of the composition, and strengthening to the flower stand visible under ultra-violet light. In some other areas the old residual varnish layers fluoresce more opaquely making the surface more difficult to read under U.V. light. Otherwise this work is in good overall condition. Presented in a decorative gilt frame with leaf and berry motifs and a nameplate.
