Overall the condition of the bronze is good, with wear and some dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is some greening to the patina, probably due to placement outdoors, notably to the proper right eye and the nose, the neck, and around the shoulders and truncation. There are also a few minor rust-coloured areas, in particular to the back of the neck, and some minor areas of the hair. There are a few black paint marks to the back of the head. There is some pitting to the truncation at the proper right shoulder. The marble socle is in good condition with several chips, notably to the top edges at the front and to the bottom rim at the back.
