Condition

Overall the condition of the bronze is very good, with minor dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There is minor rubbing to the patina at some of the high points. There are a few dirt marks, including to one of the men's proper left arm and armpit. There are a few scratches, including to the wings. There is a reddish mark to the signature. The wood base is in good condition, with some stable splitting to the wood consistent with the material, notably an open split running vertically down one side. There is further wear and dirt to the base, including various nicks and chips, and several small specks of dirt.

Isabelle Roussadana Mdivani hailed from a Georgian noble family and made a name as a modernist sculptress in the upper echelons of European society in the 1920s and 30s. Lovingly known as Roussy, the young artist spent several years in Paris in the circle of Coco Chanel, Sergei Diaghilev, and Misia Godebska.
