8vo.  Scattered foxing and spotting, a few markings in ink and pencil, discrete folds where the corners of a number of pages have been turned down, upper right corners of pp. 9 (first page of text) and 25 torn away (not affecting text).  Publisher's half green cloth; spine faded, light soiling and wear, upper and lower endpapers and initial blank supplied.  Original pictorial dust-jacket; extremities somwhat worn, upper margin of lower cover soiled.  Gray buckram folding case, black morocco gilt spine label.

Upon its publication in 1960, To Kill a Mockingbird won a Pulitzer Prize and became the most influential work of popular American fiction since Gone with the Wind.  Its place in pop culture was strengthened by the enormous success of the 1962 film adaptation. It remains a perennial favorite on intermediate school reading lists.
