Catalogue Note

“Gould issued the introduction to his Birds of Great Britain separately in octavo format ‘for the convenience of correction before printing it for the folio work’ (p. [1]). The folio version appeared in the last part (no.25) of Birds of Great Britain, published the same year”. The recipient, Henry Lee, was a naturalist and director of the aquarium at Brighton.
