The painting is overall in a satisfactory state of conservation. It has been relined, more than fifty years ago, in a proper manner and the paint has not been flattened. It is under a dirty and thick varnish that needs to be cleaned. There are some slight paint lifting, mainly in the upper corners, and a few little gaps. Under UV light, the painting appears under a green varnish which has been partially removed on the grapes. There are a few points of retouching in the upper corners.
