The painting is overall in a relatively satisfactory state of conservation. It has been relined a bit strongly approximately thirty years ago. There is a lack in the upper right corner, and a small gap to the left of the character’s head. Under UV light: There are, under a uniform green varnish, a three centimetres wide point of retouching in the leave, a one centimetre wide point of retouching in the jacket and a one centimetre wide point of retouching around the model’s head near the aforementioned lack.
