Condition
The following condition report has been established by Mr Alain Goldrach, independant specialist and restorer.
The painting is in wonderful state of preservation.
The picture once an oval,was squared off with canvas spandrels as the painting was relined.The corners are very well integrated and are barely visible with the naked eye.
They are no visible retouches fluorescing under ultra-violet other than the corners and some reinforcement of leaves at the upper right corner.
One should note the small abrasion under the nose and on the lip of the figure standing in the center.
Otherwise the painting is in perfect condition.

Catalogue Note
Boucher n'a rien exposé au Salon de 1767. Diderot, qui regardait cela comme un manquement au devoir du Premier Peintre, a écrit que c'était parce qu'il (comme d'autres artistes absents du Salon) était dégoûté par les critiques ignorantes de ses tableaux exposés au Salon de 1765.
Un dessin par Boucher en rapport avec la figure de la jeune fille qui a un panier de fleurs suspendu d'un bâton sur son épaule droite, et dont le bras droit s'est penché sur une plinthe, est conservé au Cabinet de dessins de la Bibliothèque de l'Université de Varsovie (Zb. král. T.173, nr.83), à la fin du XVIIIesiècle, il faisait partie de la collection du roi Stanislas Auguste, le protégé de madame Geoffrin.
