Catalogue Note
The comic use of bathos is at the heart of this story, in which what commences as a parody of a folk-tale comes to an abrupt halt when it transpires that, quite understandably, no-one would fight a wrestling dog. It was published on pp.26-27 of In His Own Write. In 1965 Lennon recited this piece on Peter Cook and Dudley Moore's ground-breaking comedy television series Not Only ... But Also.
