Condition

Tiny nibbles to the inner lip and an elongated burst air bubble at the top of the neck meeting the lip. Minute nibbles to the tip of the blossoming prunus near the base of the neck. A burst air bubble on the butterfly wing and the edge of one leaf, both barely visible.

Catalogue Note

This is remarkably similar in carving style to Sale 1, lot 48. This shape, one of the more popular for the group, is a compressed version of the ovoid vase of that example. The small size is typical of the group, as are the substantial rounded upper neck rim and protruding foot lacking a foot rim.
