Zwei blau gekleidete Mädchen sitzen am offenen Fenster, das eine mit hochgestecktem Haar, das andere die Haare zu einem Pferdeschwanz gebunden. Die Aufmerksamkeit der beiden jungen Frauen gilt einer Handlung, die sich unmittelbar vor dem Hause abspielt. Um was es sich dabei handelt, bleibt unklar.
Den Bildhintergrund stellt ein Dickicht mit Bäumen und Sträuchern dar, das sich im sommerlichen Sonnenlicht in üppigen Farben präsentiert, welche von zartem Hell- bis zu sattem Dunkelgrün reichen mit nuancierten Farbklängen in verschiedenem gelb, rosa, blau und violett.
Im Sommer 1917 schuf Giovanni Giacometti Frauen- und Mädchenbildnisse, wie das seiner Frau Annetta und einer Frau Elisabeth Grossmann-Jacob und deren Tochter sowie einer jungen Frau namens Menghin. Bei den zwei Dargestellten könnte es sich um die beiden letztgenannten jungen Damen handeln.
Mit diesem Gemälde ist Giovanni Giacometti ein hervorragendes, postimpressionistisches Meisterstück gelungen.  

Two girls in blue sit at an open window, one with pinned-up hair, the other with a ponytale. The girls’ attention is focused on an act directly in front of the house. It is unclear what exactly is happening.
The background shows a thicket with trees and bushes; the lush colors catch the summery sunlight, ranging from delicate light green to deep dark green, with touches of yellow, pink, blue and purple.
In the summer of 1917, Giovanni Giacometti created a number of portraits of women and girls, among them one of his wife Annetta, another featuring a woman named Mrs. Elisabeth Grossmann-Jacob and her daughter as well as a young woman named Menghin. The two girls shown here could be the latter.
With this painting, Giovanni Giacometti created an outstanding masterpiece of post-impressionism.
