Catalogue Note
Der "Bois de Boulogne", seit dem Mittelalter königliches Jagdrevier, ist der Rest des alten Waldes von Rouvray, der einstmals die ganze Seine-Halbinsel bedeckte. Im Jahre 1852 überliess Napoleon den Wald der Stadt Paris. Das Gemälde zeigt einen Teil des bewaldeten Seeufers mit frühherbstlich verfärbten Blättern an den Bäumen. Der von Vallotton wiedergegebene Ausschnitt des Parks und die Spiegelungen auf der ruhigen Seeoberfläche erzeugen eine intime und stimmungsvolle Atmosphäre.
